At a festive dinner sponsored by the Halifax Chamber of Commerce on January 29, Woozles was featured as one of 5 nominees for Small Business of the Year.

Liz Crocker, one of Woozles’ co-owners, was delighted to receive the Silver Award on behalf of Woozles.

She commented, after the dinner, that

“This recognition for Woozles is actually a recognition of many people…from Ann Connor Brimer, one of the co-founders who sadly only got to share the first 10 years of the Woozles story…to Trudy Carey who was willing to leave a job at the IWK Hospital for children and follow a dream and help us create Woozles by becoming our Manager for 30 years…to my husband Brian who, with calm and grace, not only helped navigate the early choppy waters of mortgages and bankers but who continues to this day to do the books and keep us all on course…and to our fabulous staff who make it all happen every day, with both smiles and lots of hard work.

Woozles is about children and families and teachers and schools; about community; about having fun; and about being passionate about the wonderful things that happen when young people experience the thrill of reading.  How lucky we are to be recognized for what we love.”
