Trudy’s Amazing Party

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

Trudy Carey was celebrated on the night of February 16th at the Lord Nelson Hotel….over 100 friends, authors, illustrators, publishers, customers, current and former Woozles Staff and more joined in singing Trudy’s praises.

Gavin Brimer, son of one of Woozles’ original founders (Ann Connor-Brimer) flew down from Toronto to surprise Trudy and spoke warmly of her accomplishments…Brian Crocker spoke, telling the assembled crowd how Trudy has influenced our lives in so many ways…Sheree Fitch sent a poem via Janet Crosbie… Liz Crocker read out “25 Random Reasons Why Trudy is Terrific” as well as an e-mail from one of Woozles’ former staff…and Catherine Crocker read a heart-tugging letter from Suzy Crocker who has been trained by Trudy to lead the Woozles team starting in June.

As one of the ways of honouring Trudy’s fabulous taste in children’s books, it was announced that Woozles will be sponsoring a raffle of Trudy’s 30 Favourite Books of the Year (this year it is actually 39). Raffle tickets will be ready soon.

Trudy's Special

Since the beginning in 1978, Trudy Carey has been Woozles’ beloved Manager…but that will change at the end of February. In March, Trudy is turning the page to explore the next chapter of her life.

While we do not know what will make up Trudy’s ‘retirement’ (other than lots of traveling), what we do know is that Woozles has been blessed for 30 years and that she will be missed.

From the more than 100 Creative Music & Movement workshops Trudy has given, to the thousands of books she has chosen and read and loved, to her gracious hosting of children’s authors, illustrators and performers, and to the children’s names she can remember for decades, Trudy is truly exceptional!

Help us celebrate Trudy at a Reception in her honour on Monday, February 16th from 6 – 8 pm at the Lord Nelson Hotel in Halifax. Please RSVP by calling us at 902-423-7626 with the number of people that plan to attend.
