Woozles Writing Contest

For 9 years in a row, we’ve asked the kids in this community if they have a story to tell. For 9 years in a row, we’ve been blown away by what we’ve received.

This year, we asked 3 published authors to read, review, and rank the many submissions we received. Daphne Greer (Camped Out, Jacob's Landing, Maxed Out), Sarah Sawler (100 Things You Don't Know About Atlantic Canada for Kids, Be Prepared: The Frankie MacDonald Guide to Life, The Weather, and Everything) and Joanne Schwartz (Town is By The Sea, Pinny in Summer, Pinny in Fall) agreed to help us out, evaluating the stories from two categories; one for children aged 6-10 and another for children aged 11-15.

All 3 judges were amazed by the talent, creativity, and hard work of this young community of authors. After much consideration (and reading!) they selected 2 winners:

Alice Roebotham, winner of the 6-10 age category for her story, The Halifax Explosion

Aliyah Lailson, winner of the 11-15 age category for her story, The North Wind

Congratulations to Alice, Aliyah, and all of the incredible young writers in our midst!

We look forward to running this competition for children again in June 2019...stay tuned for details!

Please note:  We DO NOT accept unsolicited manuscripts.
