Got a story?  Write it down!  Enter the Woozles Writes! Writing Contest!

2019 marked year 10 of our Woozles Writes! Writing Competition and we couldn’t be more proud of the young writers in our midst.  This year yielded a record number of submissions and, once again, we were fortunate, and so thrilled, to have three published authors as our judges.  The judges were: Clare O'Connor (Skateboard Sibby), Lisa Harrington (The Big Dig, The Goodbye Girls, Live to Tell), and Sara O'Leary (This is Sadie, A Family is a Family is a Family, Owls are Good at Keeping Secrets). These three judges took the time to read each and every entry with great care and consideration, and they all  remarked on the impressive quality of all of the stories submitted. Their task of determining a winner in each category was not an easy one.  However...

...the results are finally in!  It is with great pleasure that we would like to announce the following:

  • the winning story in the 6 - 10 age category is: The Kingdom’s Peril, by Alice Roebotham

  • the winning story in the 11 - 15 age category is: May the Best Baker Win, by Julija Bowman and Andrea Wang

Congratulations Alice, Julija, and Andrea, and a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all the young writers who showcased their immense talent by entering our contest!  We admire your literary gifts, your obvious enthusiasm and your courage for sharing your stories with us.
